Ayurvedic obesity
Ayurvedic obesity treatment
In Ayurveda, obesity is known as Medarog, which is caused by the aggravation of Kapha. Kapha dosha is dense, heavy, slow, sticky, humid and cold natured. It governs the entire structure and lubrication of the mind and body as well as controlling the weight and formation of the seven tissues: nourishing fluids, blood, fat, muscles, bones, and marrow and reproductive tissues.
In a balanced state, Kapha nourishes these tissues through several micro-channels. However, when it gets unbalanced, Kapha leads to the production of toxins in the body. These toxins are dense and heavy in nature and accumulate in the weakest channels of the body, causing their blockage. In the case of an obese person, toxins accumulate in Medovahi Srotas (fat channels), leading to an increase in the production of fatty tissue (Meda Dhatu). When the body produces more fatty tissue, it causes an increase in weight.
The Ayurvedic treatment line for obesity begins with the pacification of Kapha Dosha. This can be done by eliminating the foods that aggravate Kapha from the diet. Further the treatment focuses on cleaning the Medovahi channals through medicinal cleansing herbs so that the excess weight can be reduced.
It is mandatory to undergo a minimum of 28 days of treatment.
